Kelcy Warren Praises Fellow Hall of Fame Honorees in Houston
Asked to name a standout among this year’s Hart Energy Hall of Fame honorees, Kelcy Warren refused to pick just one. The Energy Transfer executive chairman said the entire group had earned its place.
The question came from Hart Energy’s Jordan Soto during the publication’s 50th anniversary celebration in Houston. Soto wanted to know whether any honoree had made a particularly lasting impact on the energy industry.
Every Name Earned Its Spot
“Yeah, I don’t think you guys chose anybody that didn’t. I really don’t,” Warren answered. He said he had been looking around at the name tags in the room and recognized every person. “I know all of them, and they are all really important people on telling the story of energy.”
His phrasing is worth noting. Kelcy Warren described the honorees as storytellers of a sort, people whose work helps explain how energy is produced, moved, and used. The comment suggests he sees the industry’s history as a shared effort rather than the achievement of a few individuals.
He closed the answer with a compliment for the organizers. “So I think you did a great job,” he told Soto.
A Humble Starting Point
Earlier in the interview, Kelcy Warren had expressed surprise at his own selection. He said the recognition “came out of the blue” and that seeing himself listed with the other honorees felt “pretty amazing.” That humility carried into his answer about his peers. Instead of ranking colleagues, he chose to lift the whole group.
Hall of Fame events in the oil and gas sector often recognize executives, engineers, and entrepreneurs whose careers span decades of booms and downturns. Familiarity among honorees is common in a business where many leaders have crossed paths through partnerships, acquisitions, and industry associations. Warren’s comment that he knew all of them reflects how interconnected that community remains.
Kelcy Warren ended the conversation with firm advice for young people, telling them to reject the idea of a transition away from energy. Before that, though, he made sure to credit the people standing beside him. See related link for additional information.
